Everyone loves Nutella right? Everyone loves Chocolate yes? What about Nutella Truffles? These are so simple to make with only 4 ingredients needed! Double Cream, Dark Chocolate, Butter and Nutella. They are devilishly dark and with a hint of nuttiness, I bet no one can resist! Family and friends will think you have worked for hours to create these simple treats. They are great for keeping the in the fridge in case someone unexpected pops round, or they fit perfectly on the Christmas party table, or maybe as a gift, I would be very happy to receive some of these beauty's under my Christmas Tree! You can get simple chocolate packaging from most supermarkets or craft shops, and decorate up yourself. Either keep it simple or go crazy, it's up to you. The kids would enjoy getting involved too!
Step Three| Stir gently until the chocolate has melted and you are left with a thick glossy mixture. At this point, working quickly, add the Nutella and mix together until it has melted in. You may need to use a whisk just to get it going, try to avoid getting air bubbles in the mix. Place in the fridge and allow to set for at least 4 hours. I left mine overnight and it was perfectly fine the next day.
Step Four| Now comes the fun bit, a good time to get the kids (or big kids) involved. Line a baking sheet with greaseproof paper and set to one side. Get all the toppings ready you are going to be rolling the truffles in and create a little production line. Working from left to right, have the truffle mix, then the toppings and then the sheet.
Step Five| Using a teaspoon, take a small amount of the truffle mix and roll into a ball. Coat in the toppings and place on the baking sheet. Keep doing this until you have used all the mix and your hands are full of chocolatey mess. Place them back in the fridge to firm up. They are now ready to package, or eat, whichever comes first!
The toppings are the bit where you can get really creative! I've kept it really simple by using festive coloured sprinkles. You could use Toasted Ground Hazelnuts, Desiccated Coconut, Cocoa Powder or anything small that you think will go with Nutella.
